Sage Requirements

  • Students must enroll in SAGE by the designated registration deadline.
  • One course is offered each quarter, summer, autumn and winter. It is preferable to begin the course sequence in summer quarter.
  • All students will earn a Certificate of Completion in Gerontology from The Ohio State University.
  • Class size is limited so be sure to complete the registration to "hold your place" in the next SAGE series.
  • The Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology reserves the right to cancel a Sage Course up to one week prior to the beginning of the quarter if the required enrollment level has not been achieved.
  • Current OSU students interested in pursuing SAGE should complete the SAGE registration process and ALSO contact Linda Mauger at mauger.10@osu.edu or 614-293-8031 for details regarding registration and academic credit.

Continuing Education Requirements

Each SAGE course is approved for five (5) hours of continuing education credit by The State of Ohio Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators (BENHA), in accordance with BENHA regulations regarding maximum annual online continuing education credit.. The BENHA approval number is SS-19-07.

Students are required to complete all assigned readings, review all web resources, view assigned videos and participate in weekly discussions with interdisciplinary class members and faculty throughout the 10 week quarter for each course. Contributions to the discussions are expected to be informed, thoughtful and respectful of others opinions and positions. All students are expected to successfully complete the end-of-quarter written assignment or test in order to effectively demonstrate their proficiency in each SAGE course. Course faculty will determine a satisfactory or unsatisfactory grade at the end of each course in the series. Students will be granted five hours of continuing education credit per course (or 15 hours for the series) from the Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology of The Ohio State University Health Sciences Center, which may be presented to professional credentialing organizations for possible continuing education credit.

Tuition:

$450 per course, or $1,350 for the series.
