Lessons

Sections

Each weeks lesson is broken down into a number of sections.  The basic structure is:

  • "Objectives" for that week's learning.
  • "Background" which is the "lecture" for the week.
  • "Readings" that pertain to the week's Background and Objectives.
  • "Activities" is a link to the Assignments Section, which is where you find your assignments for the week.
  • "Discussion" contains the discussion topic and all discussions for the week.

PowerPoint Presentations

In many of the lessons, particularly in Course 1, there are PowerPoint presentations.  These are slide shows that you can watch on your computer.  To download them simply right click the link with your mouse, and depending on your browser, select "Save Link as..." or "Save Target as..." then choose a location to save the file and click "OK".

Once the file is downloaded it can be opened in Microsoft Office PowerPoint.  If you do not have PowerPoint then there are a couple of other options.

A free open source office suite including a PowerPoint-like program called Show is available at OpenOffice.org.

Microsoft also has a free viewer for PowerPoint files here

In most cases there will also be a link on the page to view the presentation as HTML (a webpage) right in your browser.
